Wamac is a city in Clinton, Marion, and Washington counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 1,185 at the 2010 census. Incorporated as a city on July 25, 1916, Wamac derives its name from the three counties.

According to the 2010 census, Wamac has a total area of 1.431 square miles (3.71 km2), of which 1.41 square miles (3.65 km2) (or 98.53%) is land and 0.021 square miles (0.05 km2) (or 1.47%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,378 people, 568 households, and 369 families residing in the city. The population density was 913.6 people per square mile (352.4/km²).
