According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.2 km2), of which, 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (3.33%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 340 people, 122 households, and 101 families residing in the city. The population density was 146.7 people per square mile (56.6/km²). There were 143 housing units at an average density of 61.7/sq mi (23.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.88% White, 2.35% African American, 0.29% from other races, and 1.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.29% of the population.

There were 122 households out of which 39.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.9% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.2% were non-families. 13.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.06.
