Claysville is a borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States and part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area since 1950. The population was 724 at the 2000 census. Claysville Elementary School, part of the McGuffey School District is located in Claysville. It is the birthplace of Benjamin Franklin Jones of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company.
As of the census of 2000, there were 724 people, 242 households, and 189 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,349.8 people per square mile (901.7/km²). There were 261 housing units at an average density of 847.1 per square mile (325.1/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 99.45% White, 0.28% African American, and 0.28% from two or more races.
There were 242 households out of which 35.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 12.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.9% were non-families. 19.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.06.
