Yale is located in northeastern Jasper County at 39°7?15?N 88°1?28?W? / ?39.12083°N 88.02444°W? / 39.12083; -88.02444 (39.120879, -88.024356). Illinois Route 49 passes through the village, leading north 14 miles (23 km) to Casey and south 7 miles (11 km) to its terminus at Illinois Route 33 near Willow Hill. Newton, the Jasper county seat, is 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Yale.

As of the census of 2000, there were 97 people, 37 households, and 26 families residing in the village. The population density was 168.7 people per square mile (65.7/km²). There were 45 housing units at an average density of 78.3 per square mile (30.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.97% White and 1.03% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.03% of the population.
