There were 490 housing units at an average density of 425.2 per square mile (164.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 89.17% White, 10.22% African American, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.10% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.40% of the population.

There were 446 households out of which 23.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% were non-families. 29.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
