A post office opened in 1909, serving until October 5, 2002. A jail was built in 1910 but was destroyed by fire soon after. The Bank of Plainfield operated from 1911 until 1921 and served as the central point of town. A room near the rear of the bank was used as a jail. Plainfield was incorporated by the General Assembly of Georgia on August 7, 1912. The city limits of the town were 1000 yards in every direction utilizing the bank as the center.

Once again, 8 professional and home bakers come to compete in a 6-episode baking tournament. This season is the last season with Bobby Deen as host. This season also began the mid-round twists in main heat challenges that are a staple of other baking championships competitions.

This season featured 9 professional and home bakers competing in a 7-episode baking tournament with a grand prize of $50,000. The season premier aired the first and second episode together, and later on aired the last two episodes for a 2 hour finale. Jesse Palmer replaced Bobby Deen as host for this season.
