Pattonsburg's current location is four miles north of the previous spot, Old Pattonsburg, as it is referred to today. The old town was devastated by the Flood of 1993 and was forced to move; therefore, town residents chose the new location that is located on higher ground.

As of the census of 2010, there were 348 people, 99 households, and 59 families residing in the city. The population density was 570.5 inhabitants per square mile (220.3/km2).
