Kongiganak (Kangirnaq in Central Alaskan Yup'ik) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bethel Census Area, Alaska, United States, and primarily sits on the eastern shore of the Kongiganak River. As of the 2010 census, the population was 439, up from 359 in 2000.
The original Kongiganak was settled in the 19th century and was located on a small creek just above Kuskokwim Bay. In 1880, it was called "Kongiganagamute" and had a population of 175 Inuit. The site was later abandoned. It is located a few miles east of present-day Kwigillingok and about 9 miles southeast of the current Kongiganak.
As of the census of 2000, there were 359 people, 79 households, and 60 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 212.5 people per square mile (82.0/km²). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 53.3/sq mi (20.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 2.79% White, 95.82% Native American, and 1.39% from two or more races. 1.67% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
