According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.26 square miles (0.67 km2), of which 0.25 square miles (0.65 km2) is land and 0.01 square mile (0.03 km2) is water. The town is located on the floodplain of the Missouri River, near the edge of the Loess Hills, adjacent to the old (meandered) channel of the West Fork of the Little Sioux River.
As of the census of 2010, there were 225 people, 102 households, and 65 families residing in the city. The population density was 900.0 inhabitants per square mile (347.5/km2). There were 113 housing units at an average density of 452.0 per square mile (174.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.2% White, 0.4% African American, 0.4% Asian, 0.4% from other races, and 0.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
There were 102 households of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.3% were non-families. 35.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.21 and the average family size was 2.82.
