As of the census of 2000, there were 432 people, 181 households, and 131 families residing in the city. The population density was 548.1 people per square mile (211.1/km²). There were 201 housing units at an average density of 255.0 per square mile (98.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 20.83% White, 77.78% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.46% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.23% of the population.
