Jefferson Township is a civil township of Hillsdale County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,141 at the 2000 census.
The township was organized in 1837 with the name of Florida. It was given its present name in 1849.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km2), of which 35.6 square miles (92 km2) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2) (1.44%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,141 people, 1,210 households, and 895 families residing in the township. The population density was 88.2 per square mile (34.0/km²). There were 1,569 housing units at an average density of 44.0 per square mile (17.0/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.87% White, 0.25% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.41% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races.
