Bancroft is a town in northwest Kingsbury County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 19 at the 2010 census.

Bancroft had its start in the late 1880s when the railroad was extended to that point. The town most likely was named after L. L. Bancroft, a local newspaper publisher. A post office was established at Bancroft in 1889.

Bancroft is located on the west bank of Redstone Creek and about seven miles north of US Route 14.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.23 square miles (0.60 km2), all of it land.
