Understanding Drug Tests
A drug test analyzes a biological specimen like urine, hair, blood, etc., to detect specified drugs or metabolites. It serves diverse purposes, including checking for legal compliance in employment and sports, or monitoring alcohol levels through breathalyzer tests. Various testing methods exist, each with specific accuracy and detection periods.
Impact of Passive Smoke Inhalation on Marijuana Test Results
Being around marijuana smoke usually does not cause a false positive; threshold levels are set higher than those resulting from passive exposure.
Other irregularities in urine samples may indicate tampering, such as low creatinine levels, which can occur if excessive water is consumed or added. Labs may use urine sample testing like specific gravity and pH to detect such instances. Adding enzymes is another tampering method that can alter sample stability.
Drug Detection Timeline
The duration drugs remain detectable depends on multiple factors, including:
- Drug dosage
- Frequency of use
- Drug type
- Individual's metabolism and health
- Fluid intake post-consumption
- Exercise activity post-consumption
- Genetic factors affecting drug response
