The Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Douglas was founded in the Spring of 1873 in what became Miesville. The first Saint Joseph Catholic Church building was erected in 1907 but struck by lighting on August 27, 1913. The church was rebuilt an dedicated on October 15, 1914.
