Layton was settled in the 1850s as an outgrowth of Kaysville, and is named after Christopher Layton, a Latter-day Saint colonizer and leader. It was included in the boundaries when Kaysville was incorporated as a city in 1868, but by the 1880s many Layton residents wanted to separate from the city. They challenged Kaysville's authority to tax their property, claiming they received no municipal services. This dispute reached the United States Supreme Court in 1894 as the case of Linford v. Ellison, which was decided in favor of the Layton property owners. The separatist movement finally succeeded in 1902, when Layton became an independent unincorporated area. After further growth it was made an incorporated town in 1920.

Finding the Appropriate Drug Testing Panel

Various drug testing panels, which determine the number of substances to be tested, are available. Common choices include 5-panel, 10-panel, and 12-panel tests, although customized options exist as well.

Understanding Drug Testing

A drug test is a technical examination of a biological sample—be it urine, hair, blood, breath, sweat, or saliva—to detect specific drugs or their metabolites. It serves many purposes, such as detecting performance-enhancing substances in sports, legal screening by employers or probation officers, and police testing for alcohol levels via BAC (blood alcohol content) tests, often conducted with a breathalyzer. Urinalysis is the preferred method in workplaces and sports. A variety of other methods, varying in accuracy, sensitivity, and detection length, are also available.

Concerning Passive Smoke Inhalation and False Positives for Marijuana

Passive exposure to marijuana smoke in an enclosed environment is unlikely to lead to a positive test, as lab thresholds for detection are set significantly above what passive inhalation could cause.

Sample tampering attempts or abnormalities may result in false negatives. For example:

  • Low creatinine levels in urine could indicate dilution, either through excessive water intake before the test or by adding water to the sample.
  • Creatinine levels, in combination with specific gravity, help identify dilution. Testing facilities may dye toilet water blue to prevent dilution with toilet water.
  • Adding certain enzymes to alter sample composition might change the pH, which is also analyzed.

Duration of Drugs in Your System

The detection period for drugs in the system varies. Factors influencing drug retention include:

  • Quantity of the drug consumed
  • Frequency of use
  • Drug type
  • An individual's metabolic rate and health state
  • Fluid intake following drug consumption
  • Post-consumption exercise
  • Genetic factors affecting drug metabolism
