Primera is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States, near Combes. The population was 4,070 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville and the Matamoros–Brownsville metropolitan areas.

Primera is located in western Cameron County at 26°13?23?N 97°45?5?W? / ?26.22306°N 97.75139°W? / 26.22306; -97.75139 (26.223152, -97.751470). It is 3 miles (5 km) northwest of the center of Harlingen.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,723 people, 735 households, and 659 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,772.4 people per square mile (682.7/km²). There were 780 housing units at an average density of 507.7 per square mile (195.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 81.60% White, 0.66% African American, 0.44% Native American, 0.04% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 14.03% from other races, and 3.20% from two or more races.
