Damascus is located at 35°22?2?N 92°24?35?W? / ?35.36722°N 92.40972°W? / 35.36722; -92.40972 (35.3673020, -92.4096005). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.0 km² (1.9 mi²), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 306 people, 137 households, and 90 families residing in the town. The population density was 61.2/km² (158.3/mi²). There were 157 housing units at an average density of 31.4/km² (81.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.71% White, 0.98% Black or African American, 0.33% Native American, and 0.98% from two or more races. 1.31% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 137 households out of which 26.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.3% were non-families. 30.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 2.81.
