Mapleton is a city in Bourbon County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 84.

Mapleton was originally called Eldora, and under the latter name was founded in 1857. A post office was established under the name Mapleton in 1857. The first store in Mapleton opened in 1858. In 1861, the name of the town was officially changed to Mapleton, matching the name of the post office. Mapleton was so named for a grove of maple trees near the original town site.

Mapleton is located at 38°0?50?N 94°52?58?W? / ?38.01389°N 94.88278°W? / 38.01389; -94.88278 (38.013965, -94.882741). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.50 square miles (1.29 km2), of which, 0.49 square miles (1.27 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 84 people, 41 households, and 22 families residing in the city. The population density was 171.4 inhabitants per square mile (66.2/km2). There were 48 housing units at an average density of 98.0 per square mile (37.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.8% White and 1.2% Asian.
