Fairfield Beach is 4 miles (6 km) northwest of Thornville, 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Millersport, and 33 miles (53 km) east of downtown Columbus. The village of Buckeye Lake is directly across the lake from Fairfield Beach, about 1 mile (1.6 km) by boat but 11 miles (18 km) by road.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.97 square miles (2.5 km2), of which 0.66 square miles (1.7 km2) is land and 0.31 square miles (0.8 km2), or 32.52%, is water.
