As of the 2017 United States Census, there were 13,995 people residing in the village. The racial makeup of the village was 39.31% White, 8.67% Black or African American, 2.10% Asian, 1.58% Native American, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 6.23% of some other race and 4.12% of two or more races. 37.95% were Hispanic or Latino (of any race).
As of the census of 2000, there were 10,072 people, 3,636 households, and 2,727 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,569.0 people per square mile (605.7/km²). There were 3,743 housing units at an average density of 583.1 per square mile (225.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 85.31% White, 4.54% African American, 0.28% Native American, 1.49% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 6.12% from other races, and 2.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 13.58% of the population.
There were 3,636 households out of which 36.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.0% were non-families. 20.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.21.
