As of the census of 2000, there were 132 people, 51 households, and 39 families residing in the Town. The population density was 57.0 people per square mile (22.0/km²). There were 62 housing units at an average density of 26.8 per square mile (10.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 90.91% White and 9.09% African American. Polkville annexed nearly 14 square miles (36 km2) of land later, bringing its population to 833 people. This also made it the largest municipal town in Smith County.

There were 51 households, of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.6% were married couples living together, 3.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% were non-families. 21.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.03.

In the village the population was spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older.
