As of the census of 2000, there were 475 people, 134 households, and 110 families residing in the city. The population density was 272.7 people per square mile (105.4/km²). There were 141 housing units at an average density of 81.0 per square mile (31.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 68.63% White, 30.74% African American, 0.42% from other races, and 0.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.68% of the population.

There were 134 households out of which 42.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.2% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.9% were non-families. 13.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.06 and the average family size was 3.36.
