Lincoln was founded by Charles Spencer and bore a number of short-lived names before adopting Berlin. Berlin incorporated as a city on September 10, 1913. After the outbreak of World War I, Berlin's many German residents faced verbal and physical abuses as part of the wave of anti-German sentiment that swept the country. On June 12, 1918, Berlin officially changed its name to Lincoln.
As of the census of 2010, there were 162 people, 68 households, and 47 families residing in the city. The population density was 352.2 inhabitants per square mile (136.0/km2). There were 81 housing units at an average density of 176.1 per square mile (68.0/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 99.4% White and 0.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.3% of the population.
There were 68 households of which 27.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.9% were non-families. 27.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.91.
