Jewett is located in south-central Cumberland County at 39°12?30?N 88°14?43?W? / ?39.20833°N 88.24528°W? / 39.20833; -88.24528 (39.208458, -88.245157), along the route of the former National Road. U.S. Route 40 now runs through the northern part of the village, leading northeast 5 miles (8 km) to Greenup and southwest 8 miles (13 km) to Montrose. Interstate 70 passes to the north of the village, with access at Greenup and Montrose.

As of the census of 2000, there were 232 people, 83 households, and 58 families residing in the village. The population density was 230.7 people per square mile (88.7/km²). There were 96 housing units at an average density of 95.5 per square mile (36.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 100.00% White.

There were 83 households out of which 32.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.1% were non-families. 25.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
