Eagle was platted in 1886 when the Missouri Pacific Railroad was extended to that point. An early variant name was "Sunlight". The present name is likely for the wild eagles observed by the first settlers.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,024 people, 384 households, and 295 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,925.7 inhabitants per square mile (1,129.6/km2). There were 418 housing units at an average density of 1,194.3 per square mile (461.1/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.9% of the population.

There were 384 households of which 44.0% had children under the age of 18 living in them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 23.2% were non-families. 18.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
