Middlesex is a town in Nash County, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Rocky Mount, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middlesex is about 25 miles east of Raleigh, North Carolina. The population was 822 at the 2010 census.
As of the census of 2000, there were 838 people, 381 households, and 235 families residing in the town. The population density was 858.6 people per square mile (330.2/km²). There were 426 housing units at an average density of 436.5 per square mile (167.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 63.25% White, 32.70% African American, 0.24% Native American, 3.58% from other races, and 0.24% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.52% of the population.
