According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.58 square miles (9.27 km2); 2.99 square miles (7.74 km2) is land and 0.59 square miles (1.53 km2) is water.

U.S. Highway 61 and U.S. Highway 10, which are concurrent through the town, serves as a main route in the community.

St. Paul Park is bordered by Cottage Grove to the east and Newport to the north.
