Choosing the Right Drug Testing Panel
Drug test panels identify the number of substances screened. Common panels include 5-panel, 10-panel, and 12-panel tests, with options for customized screening available.
Understanding Drug Tests
A drug test is a technical analysis of a biological specimen, such as urine, hair, blood, breath, sweat, or saliva, to detect the presence or absence of selected drugs or their metabolites. Key applications include identifying performance-enhancing steroids in sports and screening for illicit drugs by employers and parole officers. Blood alcohol content (BAC) testing, often done via breathalyzer, is another standard procedure. Various testing methods, differing in accuracy, sensitivity, and detection periods, exist. Drug testing can also involve quantitative analysis to guide responsible drug use.
Can Passive Smoke Inhalation Cause a False Positive?
"Passive" smoke exposure to marijuana is not deemed valid, as laboratory cut-off levels are set above those arising from such exposure.
Unexpected urine screen results might suggest a false negative or sample adulteration. For instance:
- Low creatinine levels may imply tampering, either by fluid consumption prior to testing or adding water to the sample.
- Creatinine levels and specific gravity help detect sample dilution. Labs may color toilet water blue to prevent dilution from the toilet.
- Subjects might introduce enzymes to alter urine sample stability, although this often modifies pH levels, which are tested.
Drug Detection Duration
Detection periods, or look-back windows, depend on various factors:
- Drug quantity taken
- Frequency of use
- Type of drug
- Individual's metabolism and health
- Fluids consumed post-ingestion
- Exercise post-ingestion
- Genetic factors affecting drug response

Local Area Info: Kansas City, Kansas
Kansas City is the third-largest city in the State of Kansas, the county seat of Wyandotte County, and the third-largest city of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Kansas City, Kansas is abbreviated as "KCK" to differentiate it from Kansas City, Missouri, after which it is named. It is part of a consolidated city-county government known as the "Unified Government". Wyandotte County also includes the independent cities of Bonner Springs and Edwardsville. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 145,786 residents. It is situated at Kaw Point, which is the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers.
In October 1872, "old" Kansas City, Kansas, was incorporated. The first city election was held on October 22 of that year, by order of Judge Hiram Stevens of the Tenth Judicial District, and resulted in the election of Mayor James Boyle. The mayors of the city after its organization were James Boyle, C. A. Eidemiller, A. S. Orbison, Eli Teed and Samuel McConnell. In June 1880, the Governor of Kansas proclaimed the city of Kansas City a city of the second class with Mayor McConnell present.
In March 1886, "new" Kansas City, Kansas, was formed through the consolidation of five municipalities: "old" Kansas City, Armstrong, Armourdale, Riverview, Wyandotte. The oldest city of the group was Wyandotte, which was formed in 1857 by Wyandot Native Americans and Methodist missionaries.:370, 384, 388
