Big Lagoon is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California. It is located 7 miles (11 km) north of Trinidad, at an elevation of 56 feet (17m). The population was 93 at the 2010 census.

Big Lagoon is the seat of the Big Lagoon Union Elementary School District, and home of the Big Lagoon School, a public K-8 school built in 1956 and renovated in 1996. The school sits off of U.S. Route 101 on a 10 acres (4.0 ha) site, 26 miles (42 km) north of Eureka.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Big Lagoon had a population of 93. The population density was 155.2 people per square mile (59.9/km²). The racial makeup of Big Lagoon was 73 (78.5%) White, 0 (0.0%) African American, 11 (11.8%) Native American, 0 (0.0%) Asian, 0 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 1 (1.1%) from other races, and 8 (8.6%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11 persons (11.8%).
