Local Area Info: Suquamish, Washington
Suquamish is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 4,140 at the 2010 census. Located within the Port Madison Indian Reservation, it is the burial site of Chief Seattle and the site of the Suquamish tribe winter longhouse known as Old Man House.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19.3 km2), of which 6.8 square miles (17.7 km2) is land and 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2) (8.43%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,510 people, 1,459 households, and 948 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 513.1 people per square mile (198.1/km2). There were 1,580 housing units at an average density of 231.0/sq mi (89.2/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 81.34% White, 0.34% African American, 9.60% Native American, 2.42% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 1.28% from other races, and 4.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.05% of the population.
