Local Area Info: New Bloomfield, Missouri

A town of 'Bloomfield', with a 'Round Prairie Post Office', within the historic (and since altered) boundaries of Round Prairie Township, was originally surveyed in 1836. In 1841, the post office was moved about 1/2 mile southward, clearly into Cedar Township, and was renamed 'New Bloomfield' . (Note that Guthrie Township did not exist until sometime around 1890, per historical maps.) Details of the boundary changes are given in the article on Round Prairie Township.

As of the census of 2010, there were 669 people, 256 households, and 173 families residing in the city. The population density was 437.3 inhabitants per square mile (168.8/km2). There were 283 housing units at an average density of 185.0 per square mile (71.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.2% White, 1.0% African American, 0.9% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.7% from other races, and 2.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
