Fruitland is a city in Muscatine County, Iowa, United States. The population was 977 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area. A large coal-burning power plant, owned by Mid-American Energy, is located southeast of Fruitland, in Louisa County.[citation needed]

Fruitland is located at 41°21?8?N 91°7?34?W? / ?41.35222°N 91.12611°W? / 41.35222; -91.12611 (41.352283, -91.126250). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.80 square miles (4.66 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 977 people, 331 households, and 277 families residing in the city. The population density was 542.8 inhabitants per square mile (209.6/km2). There were 342 housing units at an average density of 190.0 per square mile (73.4/km2).
