The township is bordered to the north and west by North Annville Township (3.2mi), to the south and west by South Annville Township (3mi), and to the east by Cleona (0.47mi) and North Cornwall Township (0.25mi).

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,518 people, 1,452 households, and 917 families residing in the township. The population density was 2,864.6 people per square mile (1,104.1/km). There were 1,556 housing units at an average density of 986.6/sqmi (380.2/km). The racial makeup of the township was 95.40% White, 1.08% African American, 0.02% Native American, 1.24% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0.97% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races.
