Any samples that test positive in Screening necessitate a further confirmation step.
Should a sample yield a presumptive positive during Screening, more hair is extracted from the original sample and prepared for Extraction. This stage involves extracting drugs from hair at a significantly lower concentration compared to other methods (e.g., urine or oral fluid), making hair drug screening a challenging methodology.
Confirmation of any positive screen result employs techniques such as GC/MS, GC/MS/MS or LC/MS/MS. All presumptive positive samples are cleansed before confirmation if necessary.
