At this stage, drugs are extracted from hair at much lower concentrations than other methods (ex. urine or oral fluid), making hair drug screening the most challenging methodology to carry out.
Confirming any positive screening result is executed using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All samples with presumptive positive results are cleansed before confirmation if needed. The entire lab procedure from Accessioning to Confirmation is assessed under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair designation and accreditation to ISO / IEC 17025 standards.
