Here, drugs are isolated from hair at much lower concentrations compared to other methods (e.g., urine or oral fluid), which makes hair drug testing one of the more complex methodologies.
Confirmation for any presumptively positive results from Screening is executed via GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, or LC/MS/MS. All presumptive positive specimens are cleansed before confirmation, if necessary. From Accessioning to Confirmation, the comprehensive laboratory process is scrutinized under both the CAP (College of American Pathologists) Hair criteria and accreditation according to ISO / IEC 17025 norms.
