The area that is now Dothan was inhabited for thousands of years by successive cultures of indigenous peoples. In historic times it was occupied by the Alabama and Creek Native American tribes who were hunters and gatherers in the vast forests of pine that covered this region. These tribes had developed complex cultures, and often used to meet and camp for trading near a large spring at the crossroads of two trails.

Selecting an Appropriate Drug Testing Panel

A drug test is categorized by the number of substances included in the screening, termed a panel. Commonly used panels are the 5-panel, 10-panel, and 12-panel tests, with the option for customized screenings.

Drug Testing Overview

A drug test involves analyzing a biological sample, such as urine, hair, blood, breath, sweat, or oral fluid/saliva, to confirm the presence or absence of specified drugs or metabolites. Drug testing is widely used in sports for performance-enhancing steroids, workplaces for harmful substances, and legal enforcement for alcohol levels via breathalyzer, commonly known as BAC (Blood Alcohol Content). Accurate, sensitive, and varied detection methodologies exist for assessing drug usage. Some tests also provide quantitative analysis to encourage responsible substance use.

Can Secondhand Smoke Lead to a False Positive for Marijuana?

Exposure to marijuana smoke ("passive" inhalation) doesn't typically impact results since lab thresholds are set to prevent false positives from such exposure.

Occasionally, urine screens might yield false negatives or show tampered results. Examples include:

  • Low creatinine levels suggesting urine dilution through excessive water intake or sample tampering with additional liquid.
  • Combining creatinine with specific gravity helps identify diluted samples. Blue-colored toilet water can discourage tampering via toilet water.
  • Altering the urine's stability with enzymes is often detected via pH tests.

Drug Retention in Your System: How Long?

The detection window in a drug test is influenced by numerous factors:

  • The dosage of the drug consumed
  • The frequency of use
  • The type of drug ingested
  • Individual metabolic rates and overall health
  • The volume of fluid intake after drug use
  • Levels of physical activity following ingestion
  • Genetic differences affecting drug processing

Local Area Info: Dothan, Alabama

Dothan /?do???n/ is a city in Dale, Henry, and Houston counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is the county seat of Houston County and the seventh largest city in Alabama, with a population of 65,496 at the 2010 census. It is near the state's southeastern corner, approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of the Georgia state line and 16 miles (26 km) north of Florida. It is named after the biblical city, the place where Joseph's brothers threw him into a cistern and sold him into slavery in Egypt.

Dothan is the principal city of the Dothan, Alabama metropolitan area, which encompasses all of Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties; the small portion in Dale County is part of the Ozark Micropolitan Statistical Area. The combined population of the entire Dothan metropolitan area in 2010 was 145,639. The city serves as the main transportation and commercial hub for a significant part of southeastern Alabama, southwest Georgia, and nearby portions of the Florida Panhandle. Since approximately one-fourth of the U.S. peanut crop is produced nearby, much of it processed in the city, Dothan is known as "The Peanut Capital of the World". It also hosts the annual National Peanut Festival at the dedicated "Peanut Festival Fairgrounds".

The area that is now Dothan was inhabited for thousands of years by successive cultures of indigenous peoples. In historic times it was occupied by the Alabama and Creek Native American tribes who were hunters and gatherers in the vast forests of pine that covered this region.
